The Lizard of Many Colors

Legends tell of a lizard so bright,
With colors too splendid, a breathtaking sigh.
That jealous black lizards locked it away,
In the endless depths where darkness lay.
In shadow it grew, its body steeped in poison,
A single touch, and the venom would seize,
Devouring life in an instant's breath,
Leaving no chance for return, only rest.
